Joey-D (D for "Dog" since we used to have a feline Joey in residence) came to us all the way from Long Island, New York. An unfortunate car accident years ago left Joey with only a small fraction of the use of his hind end, unable to walk and in desperate need of a new home.
Here at BrightHaven there is never any doubt about where to find Joey, one only needs to seek out Gail and look down, for it seems that Joey has surgically attached himself to her feet and to her heart.
Joey-D is one happy camper, whizzing around in his wheel chair, protecting his woman and property from potential intruders and keeping everybody else in line.
His charisma makes him everybody's favorite and he very much enjoys the many walks volunteers and staff take him on every day.
