–He arrived at BrightHaven on February 22nd 2010 and died on February 24th 2010
On the 22nd of February, BrightHaven friend Darlene Flint opened her front door to find a starved, frozen and dying cat on her doorstep and made the decision to come to us for help.
His temperature was only 92 degrees and he was almost comatose. We worked around the clock to save this clearly feral young man with clipped ear, and awful lice infestation.
On Tuesday he sat up and ate a little on his own. We were so happy to see him looking at us with interest, curiosity and showing his enjoyment at being carried in the garden.
His blood panel revealed the worst—with his starvation and Aids status not helping his situation. We remained optimistic, but then on Wednesday he failed fast, leaving us so sad not to have been able to save his sweet life.
Georgie died in our arms, in the grass, in the great outdoors, where he asked to be. Scared of us on Monday, he accepted our love by Tuesday!!
Like a rainbow fading in the twinkling of an eye,Tweet
gone too soon.
Shiny and sparkly and splendidly bright. Here one day,
gone one night.
Like the loss of sunlight on a cloudy afternoon.
Gone too soon.
Like a castle built upon a sandy beach.
Gone too soon.
Like a perfect flower that is just beyond your reach,
gone too soon.
Born to amuse, to inspire, to delight
here one day, gone one night.
Like a sunset dying with the rising of the moon,
gone too soon, gone too soon
Gone Too Soon. Lyrics by Buz Kohan. Music by Larry Grossman.
