BrightHaven is an holistic animal hospice whose
philosophy is all about achieving a balance of healing for body, mind and spirit. For some that healing will bring about new life, and for some, that healing will be necessary to prepare for death and the journey beyond. BrightHaven’s animals live in the moment in love and joy, and those who come here do so to spend their last days in peace and surrounded in love before they die, in their own time and terms, with pride and dignity.
Currently BrightHaven is home to 17 cats, four dogs, three horses, a pig, two goats, one goose, five chickens and two ducks. These animals and birds are our close family members and, as we journey through their care we are constantly learning more and more about natural healing, animal wellness, and also the circle of life, death and beyond. Many of the animals who came to BrightHaven to die surprised everyone by returning to better health and living on, some into their late twenties and even thirties.
Now it is BrightHaven’s
mission and passion to share the learning derived from the animals in our care with as many people as possible in order to help to save many more lives. This is achieved via consultations, our
seminar program and also via the
BrightHaven Rescue organization, which finds homes for senior and special needs animals.
Due to the exceedingly demanding schedule of hospice care, our
time of transition, and financial status, BrightHaven Sanctuary is unable to accept any new residents at this time, except on a very occasional hospice care basis. Kindly email Vicki at
info@brighthaven.org for more information.
We are extremely hopeful that, through our programs of education, others will now come forward to open their hearts and homes as we have done and continue the extraordinary mission we have begun.
We also envisage that, as the word is spread both by us as well as the ever-changing and growing veterinary community, many will undertake the care at home of their senior or special needs pets.
Gail is available by email for
consultations on:
- Natural animal health care
- Well-being and hospice care
- Transition
- Starting your own sanctuary or BrightHaven!
Note: Giving up your animal can often be avoided, and we are happy to give consultations on health and other issues to try to salvage a family bond.
