Volunteer Orientation Day: Saturday, June 10th 2012
12noon to 2:30pm
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at BrightHaven. Your time as a dedicated BrightHaven Volunteer enhances the lives of senior and special needs animals, as well as saves the lives of animals most at risk for euthanasia in bay area shelters.
Special Consideration will be given to taking in volunteers before June 10th for the following tasks:
- VOLUNTEERS FOR THE HUMAN RACE MAY 5TH! CONTACT VICKI@BRIGHTHAVEN.ORG
- FUNDRAISING AND EVENTS
- FLYER DISTRIBUTION
To Attend Orientation Day:
- Read the information below about volunteering at BrightHaven Animal Sanctuary or becoming an off-site volunteer
- Review our volunteer opportunities list and bring your areas of interest in mind for the day of orientation. All avenues of assistance are very welcome. We are most in need of office work, fundraising and PR projects which help us to save the lives of many more animals.
- RSVP to vicki@brighthaven.org with any additional questions before the orientation, and for directions to the sanctuary.
- Bring your calendar along with you to schedule your volunteer time.
At BrightHaven Sanctuary
You can make a difference by scheduling time at BrightHaven Sanctuary to both support our operations and to spend time with the BrightHaven animal family. In return the animals will give you love, joy and even perhaps lower your blood pressure! Volunteering at BrightHaven is an uplifting experience. The animals live in a cage-free, spacious and tranquil home environment. Though vibrant, most of our animals are either elderly or are living with special needs, and consideration for this while volunteering is appreciated. Volunteers and the BrightHaven staff have found that once weekly volunteering with a minimum of a six week commitment is most effective for our goals to enhance and save the lives of animals. Events and some other tasks may require a shorter or longer commitment time. Please see our volunteer opportunities list to gain an understanding of the commitment needed.
For those interested in cat cuddling/grooming:
We ask that all volunteers spend 50% of their time with the animals and then dedicate their remaining time to helping us with other tasks, such as office work, dog walking, cleaning, running errands or helping with other daily duties.
Sanctuary Hours of Operation:
Monday through Saturday, 10am to 4pm.
*Due to weekend Seminars, Saturday volunteering must be limited to office work or outdoor activities.
*The hours of operation are extended for volunteers helping with feeding or stable work.
Off-site Opportunities
There is also much that can be done off-site, from your home computer or out in the community. Individuals may organise fundraising projects, post flyers for our educational programs or events, or become involved in BrightHaven Rescue, which places animals at risk for euthanasia in foster and forever homes. Those who participate in BrightHaven off site are a tremendous support to our daily operations and are key to making a difference to the lives of animals through our organization.
